The idea behind “Group Therapy” is for our clients to exercise in small groups, under the guidance of a physical therapist, thereby making physiotherapy fun, motivating, and economical.
What are the benefits of group-exercise?
- It is motivating: Exercising with people who have similar goals and who encourage each other, can be extremely motivating.
- Makes you accountable in your fitness journey: Have you ever said to yourself, “I know I should be going to the gym, but…” or “I know I should be doing my physiotherapy exercises, but…” Being part of a fitness-class is a great way to increase your internal drive to exercise. This is because you become accountable to your classmates, instructor, and most importantly, to yourself to show up each week and participate whole-heartedly.
- Benefit from expert supervision: When people exercise on their own, they are likely to do so incorrectly or skip the ones that they don’t particularly enjoy.
In our small-group setting, the physiotherapist would tailor the class to include the most beneficial and relevant exercises for that specific group. Also, he/she would be providing supervision at all times, so that the correct techniques are used.
